Typically we spend a few months down in Florida/Georgia but this year we decided to start our tour a little early and stretch our wings to new territories.
Our summer tour started before we could even wrap our heads around everything we're going through.
That is the story of our lives.
The album got it's name because it wasn't the best (or the worst) show I've ever played. (It really could have been Any Given Saturday).
We recorded a show at the end of the 2013 tour. I was exhausted after that tour. Not my best night but I'm still very proud of the album. If you're looking for that live sound you can download it on iTunes.
This album (and the ones before it) could not have been done without Cinch and T-Spoon or Dave and Emily King. 'Disco' Dave is on this list as well. Each one of them are extremely talented and great at what they do.
It amazes me every time they take on one of my lofty projects (or ideas). They humbly take it and simply say 'I got this.' Then the alchemy begins.
But, I have enough material for another album.
Seven years ago all I could think about what recording a cd and actually having a gig to drive too. To see all this happening right before my eyes... It's just crazy to me.
One thing I've always tried to do is before I put out a new record is work out all the songs and play them on the road for as long as possible. There is nothing worse than the feeling of someone requesting a song you can't play live because you wrote it in the studio.
Things are great in the veggie bus. We've been super blessed with grease this year. Since we bought this bus we've collected over $17,000 in grease.
(That is 'would be' diesel costs).
Next month also marks 4 years of us living in our vehicle. If the average 20-30 (something) year old spends $1000/month on rent (or mortgage). That is $60,000 we've saved since June of 2010! That is a lot of cash!! For those of you who wonder how we are able to do what we do (without taking a salary from Journey4YOUth). That's it.
Although our lifestyle might look like a huge sacrifice to some... It has become quite comfortable for us (and actually enjoyable). Which makes us ask ourselves are we really giving enough? We all should ask ourselves that.
The concept of giving should come hand in hand with sacrifice. If we just give a little bit of our excess here and there what kind of faith does that take?
What we're doing is attempting to give back to the community where we feel called. I believe everyone should do it. It should just be the way.
I'm grateful for the opportunity to do this. And I'm grateful for the voice I've been given. I pray that I can use it to inspire others and to make serious change in this world.
Thanks again for following us. Brian & Katie. Over-N-out.
