MOVING FORWARD

It's been a little over a month since we lost the bus. All things considered, we're doing fine. There are times when we really miss our home. There are times when we really need our home. But, this is the hand we've been dealt and we're determined to make the best of it.

Katie's dad (my father-in-law) let us borrow his brand new minivan. We have all our gear and a months worth of clothes (which fit in two backpacks) we pack light. We have been couch surfing and living at peoples houses. We're really grateful for all the people who have been going out of their way to help us out.

I think more than anything, Katie and I  miss having our own space. It's hard to discern whether or not we're exhausted from visiting with people 16 of the last 18 weeks or just experiencing normal 'end of tour' exhaustion.

I feel like we go through this every year right around this time, and I think not having our own space kind of amplifies the whole situation.

For the last few years we've spent our winters working in Africa or touring overseas, then coming home and touring the USA. That's why we're probably tired. 8)

Katie and I have collected hundreds of hours of footage from our travels. Most of you have seen our pictures, however the video takes more time to organize, sort and edit. I hope that if we ever decide to take a winter off we'll make a short film or documentary. Below are a few videos I threw together. The first one is our 2014 US Tour Compilation. The second is a 2 camera & GoPro video of my song 'Afrika' from the Snowbasin Festival we did earlier this year.

In other news. Katie and I just got our New Zealand work visas. To be honest, I was sweating it out all year. But, God is good. We're heading back to our favorite place in the whole world.

Hard to believe it's been 5 years since we were there last. Things are going to look a little different. For one, we wont be hitchhiking and bumming around. We have over 30 shows booked and so we'll be keeping quite busy.

New Zealand is the place where Katie and I decided that we would be together for the rest of our lives.

I remember, Katie and sitting out on this beautiful peninsula drawing up a map of our first tour. We talked about how we combine our efforts; she would take over Journey4YOUth and I would manage the music.

We came up with the idea that we would get home and buy a van, convert it to veggie oil and tour full time. Not staying in one place and rely on weekly gigs but instead commit to full time touring with the hopes that one day we'll be able to sustain ourselves.

Our time in NZ was such a magical time in our lives. We're really excited to go back and share our music.

Here are a few more pictures from our New Zealand trip back in 2009/2010. We spent 4 months backpacking, hitchhiking and couch-surfing camping all over the country. We'll never forget that time in our lives.

That's about all I got for the October blog. I'll do my best to find some time before we leave to do our 2014 year-end review/highlights. I want to thank everybody again for supporting us this year.
Thanks again everybody. Love, Brian & Katie.
