Journey4YOUth
Journey4YOUth is registered in the United States as a 501(c)3 non profit organization that works alongside Indigenous Peoples of Rusinga Island, Kenya. The programs are managed by the Peoples of the Luo Tribe. We (Brian and Katie Ernst) are not (and never have been) paid for the work we do on behalf of Journey4YOUth.
In 2010 a family in Kaswanga Village invited us to work on their farm in exchange for food and shelter. For a few months we were given the honor and privilege to build relations in the village.
In 2011 we were asked by members of the community to help them keep an after school program going that just lost it's funding.
We were in a position to help so in 2012, Journey4YOUth received it's non profit status from the state and began allocating resources to the Indigenous led initiatives that were explicitly expressed to us by a council of Elders. A group of Women self organized and created their own Leadership Council, which helps facilitates the programs today.

We combine our story with live music, pictures and video. Highlighting some of our volunteering work in Kenya and overseas. We have done school programs from Kindergarten to University.
