WHY WE BELIEVE IN TRAVELING
We have been traveling around the world full time since 2009. We travel for many reasons and traveling has been our greatest teacher.
We believe that experiences away from our everyday life opens up new pathways in the heart, mind and soul-showing us new ways to live, create, think and be.
Travel expands our perspective, giving us new vision and inspiration, helping us learn something new about who we are.
It connects us with people from different cultures and backgrounds, naturally giving us tolerance as we see that there are many ways to live not just one.
THOUGHTS BEHIND THIS TRIP
Thailand is one of our favorite places to travel. We have been there 3 times and have spent about 8 months there in total. We love the laid back atmosphere and mindsets of the people, their welcoming and tolerant culture, the food, the land, really everything. While we originally wanted to take you all around Thailand and show you our favorite spots when we really thought about it we realized the best trip we could offer you right now is one that will be restorative and give you time and space to recharge, dream new dreams and be able to go home and breathe new life into your work, family and friends.
So many people in our network are working hard, raising children, volunteering and making the world better in their own unique way so while we love volunteering and hope to plan volunteering trips in the future this trip is about renewal, relaxing and getting inspired. ( We will participate in a beach clean up and have options for you to volunteer in your free time if you'd like). But rest and adventure are also good for the soul and we believe this trip will help you go back to your everyday life re-energized.
We hope you'll join us.
You're invited to spend 9 nights with us in Thailand. We found the perfect place that we believe will leave you inspired and recharged.
Meet us in Bangkok then travel with us to an island in the Andaman Sea- Koh Lanta- where we will spend a week at Oasis Yoga Bungalows.
Everyday we'll have half day activities together as a group exploring the island and we'll also leave you time each day to rest, read, write, create art/ music, practice yoga, meditate, swim, walk the beach, get a massage or just lay in a hammock.
We'll be surrounded by warm turquoise waters. We'll eat healthy and delicious food, take traditional long tail wooden boats to explore surrounding islands and the sea. We'll stay within walking distance to the beach with a gorgeous pool onsite and tree house yoga studio. We'll explore the islands jungle, watch the sunset and enjoy life FULLY.

KOH LANTA
Kate and Farra, the founders of Oasis Yoga Bungalows describe Koh Lanta in the following way-
"Koh Lanta is the ideal place to kick back in a hammock and practice simply being in the moment. Still free of big hotels and neon lights, its a barefoot beauty with a hint of hippy. You won't find any pushy touts or loud jet skies here. Koh Lanta Yai, known as the sexy beach babe of southern Thailand, is 30km tip to tip, with one long, stunning, white sandy beach after the next. The west coast of the island is renowned for breathtaking sunsets, a place where you can still find yourself alone on an untouched beach, sun bathing all your cares away. Local cultural and charm fill the east coast with the local sea gypsy village set against a dynamic back drop of rocky karats which have made the Krabi Province famous for it's picture perfect post cards. A jungly mountainous spine cuts the island down the center leaving much unspoiled land to remain home to natural flora and fauna proving that Koh Lanta is truly one of the most idealistic tropical island in all of South East Asia."
YOGA
Yoga is not for everyone but its a great way to center and ground and find some time to get into your body and breathe.
This isn't a yoga retreat so if you don't do yoga, no worries we want to give you freedom to do whatever helps you relax and enjoy your time best.
We chose Oasis Yoga Bungalows because we love the intention and detail they have put into everything they do. We also love that in the letter from the owners it says
"We have always strived to make Oasis an authentic place that is welcoming, non-pretentious and easily accessible to anyone and everyone...
So here we are today, still just a treehouse yoga studio on Klong Dao beach that welcomes all. Only now we have the room to actually meet all your other needs for a total health and happiness holiday by offering affordable bungalows, an inviting bar & juicery, a restaurant focused on clean, healthy food and simply more space to enjoy yourself."

You can take this out once there at an ATM, just let your bank know you will be traveling. You could also bring U.S. cash and exchange it at the airport. Or you can get Thai baht in the U.S. at a AAA or possibly at your bank. We usually trade in some money at the airport and also use ATMs with no problems. Visas and Mastercard are accepted in some places but American Express usually isn't.
CONNECT WITH THE GROUP
We created a facebook group-Thailand 2020, please use this to introduce yourselves and ask questions here as others may have the same questions. CULTURAL INFORMATION
Thai people do not shake hands when meeting for the first time. They greet one another with the WAI, which is pressing your palms together, about chest level and bowing your head slightly. Watch this video for a demo.
Thai culture considers the head the most respectable part of the body and the feet the least respectable. Thus, it is considered slightly offensive to touch someones head. It is also slightly offensive to raise your feet at someone or towards a religious object (like a Buddha statue or a photo of the King).
Thai culture is very big on "saving face." This means, while in public, don't raise your voice with emotion or be loud and obnoxious. If you happen to get into a disagreement with someone, do not make it public or embarrass them or yourself.
Some Thai merchants and business owners don't use price tags. A lot of times they give you a price expecting you to negotiate. A good deal is one that both parties feel is fair. Remember to always save face and have a smile ready and, worst case, if you can't get a price you like, you're more than likely negotiating over a few dollars. ($1 = 30 Thai Baht).
