Six weeks of slowing down, writing, exploring new places, returning to old favorites, practicing Spanish, riding out earthquakes and volcanoes, drinking great coffee, and being a family.
I’m getting ready to head back to USA for a run of shows, while the girls stay here in Guatemala.
This year has been the most I’ve toured without my family. It’s hard, but it’s a sacrifice worth making bc this is a year about aligning with our values. We’re putting life first in the “life-work” balance.
We had to get creative. We took some risks, spread our wings, and jumped.
We’re no strangers to the ole’ leap of faith. It’s still scary as hell - we’ve just learned to trust the leap a little more.
Wanishi (thank you) to the amazing women who have kept Katie’s business going while we’ve been gone. Wanishi to every person and every retail shop that continues to support her artisanship. You’ve helped make this chapter possible.
I just had a six-week set break.
Six weeks to breathe.
Six weeks to be a dad and a husband.
Six weeks to focus on making memories with my family instead of drowning in the overhead that demands I focus on making a living.
We’re making a life. For our daughter. And you know what I love about doing this? It always makes me hungry to get back onstage and make music to share with all of you again.
I’m ready.
Even though I wish I could just stay down here with the girls, my business is about connection.
Connecting the head and the heart with the soul, and some rock n’ roll. I’ve got some exciting things to share with y’all later this year. All in good time.
Life is for living.
See you on the road.
