I was in math class. Senior year of high school. My friend Eric runs back from the office and he announces to the class that an airplane hit the north tower of the World Trade Center. My first thought was that is was a small airplane, and pilot error. Our teacher ran over to the one dial-up PC that was over by his desk and he said that the news website was down.
We turned on the one television that was attached to the front wall right when the second plane hit the south tower. School was much quiter that day. Most of the classes were sacrificed so that we could all watch the breaking news unfolding.
We had no idea that the world we all knew was never going to be the same again. I remember the night before, 9/10/01, I went to a Three Doors Down concert with a bunch of friends from school. It was so normal, and yet, everything from 9/11 onward was about to change.
