I walked into the church house, with the $25 application fee in my hand, and politely asked them, to their face, if I can still participate in the parade even though some of our Christian beliefs don’t completely align.
Mayor Bradley Bean, what shall we do? I want to celebrate with my community and fellow Americans but my application to participate is being rejected? How American is it to proclaim Christian Nationalism Day on behalf of We The People if the participation of We The People is being systematically rejected because of our religious beliefs?
I’ll see you at The Peoples Podium at City Hall on Tuesday.
Make sure you tune in.

For transparency, here is my second email that was ignored by the church.
Hi __________, [name removed for privacy]
I am a local follower of Christ and I would like to participate in the Christian Heritage of America Parade and I wanted to ask you if I am required to agree to the “Statement of Faith and Shared Convictions” to participate in the parade?
I saw photos online that appeared as if agreeing to the “Statement of Faith and Shared Convictions” was compulsory for parade participation.
Can you tell me if I will be permitted to pay for a float and celebrate my Christian Heritage with my community even if our deeply held Christian convictions aren’t completely aligned? Thank you so much.
With respect,
Brian
