Nov. 2020 // I got a message that one of my old friends lost his battle with mental health. I took it pretty hard bc at that time I was stuck in Africa (10 month lockdown) and I couldn’t be there for his brother, who was also my friend.
I felt uncomfortable grabbing my guitar, like maybe it was too soon, but I felt like my friend was with me that day, and he knew that making music was a way that we reconcile grief. I felt very strongly like he wanted me to pick up my guitar and write a song, just like we used to do back when we were in school. So I credit him with helping me write it. In Spirit.
The music video was the last video I filmed because it was the song I struggled the hardest with… how do I make a music video about mental health… I wrestled with that question for a couple years, and I didn’t finish filming it until a few weeks before the sold out AMP shows.
The new single “Carry Me Home” drops on all streaming platforms next week. Fri. Aug. 1st at 12am (EST). The music video drops the following Fri. Aug. 8th.
