My idea for this music video was to create a time capsule using various home videos starting in Katies third trimester. We felt our daughter calling us to South Africa and the lyrics go “you came to us in the Motherland, when you fell into both me and your momma’s hands, on a Cape Town treehouse kitchen floor, like and Angle burst through the double doors.”
Katie delivered our daughter just like the song says. And if I could add anything, It’d be she labored and delivered like a boss (and she didn’t even taking a Tylenol).
The next shots were from the first night and day of us all being a family. It was a sacred time that I wanted to include in the time capsule.
After our daughter was born we carried on with our normal touring schedule; and the rest of scenes are home videos from our 2019 tours in South Africa, USA, Guatemala, China, Thailand, Vietnam (UAE didn’t make the cut) and the music video ends with our daughter running back onto the South African Beach (in the little village she was born at) right before the world shut down in 2020.
Katie Ernst filmed the singing scenes on that same beach in South Africa when we were there earlier this year. I think she did a great job (like everything she does) and I hope you all enjoy the music video as much as we do.
